Pellet Grills Buying Guide

Pellet grills are a really healthy option when choosing to cook outdoors. Most of us love to get the grill out in the summer and do our cooking outside, be it for personal use of for entertaining our family and friends. Most people have the traditional types of grill in their back garden but it is a much healthier option to go for a pellet grill; not to mention a tastier option too.

Using a wood pellet grill is a better option than a gas, electric or even a charcoal grill. You just cannot get the same smoky taste with a gas or electric grill. Pellet grills are the choice of many chefs when cooking outdoors. Smoking meat is seen as the healthiest option when cooking your food outside. Pellet grills work by surrounding the food with heated air. The smoke and heated air encompass the food and results in tastier food.

Studies have shown that barbecuing food can be linked to carcinogens. This is due to the fact that the fat on the food begins to drip and then solidifies into a black crust. These black crusts contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and these are known to be cancer causing agents. Wood pellet grills reduce the incidence of these carcinogens. Most of the manufacturers of pellet grills have seized on this and have made their pellet grills with two or more protective sheets which shield your food from the heat source. This in effect causes the fat drips to run out of the grill and into an external tray or bucket. This prevents the fat source from ever reaching the heat source.

The best smoky tasting barbecued food comes from wood pellet grills. It is through use of a wood pellet grill that great tasting beef jerky is produced. They are easier to clean than charcoal grills and are also much better for the environment as they give off much less greenhouse gas emissions than other barbecue grills.

Although you can save time and effort with gas or electric outdoor grills, they lack the one thing that barbecuing is all about. It’s about taking time to cook your food so that you can enjoy being outside in the fresh air. Barbecuing was meant to be a form of slow cooking but we always seem to be looking for a way to make things happen faster instead of enjoying things for what they are. After all, smoking your meat slowly provides the best tasting meat, is much better for the atmosphere and is much healthier for you too.
